TIME Square in the Metaverse Will Be Created in Collaboration With The Sandbox

By collaborating with blockchain-based game firm The Sandbox to create TIME Square in the metaverse, TIME Magazine has expanded its excursion into the worlds of cryptocurrencies and NFT.

The idea was motivated by the virtual spirit and vitality of the actual Times Square district in New York City, as per the official statement.

In Midtown Manhattan, New York, the United States, Times Square is a famous neighborhood, commercial junction, and cultural hub. The region is known for its enormous, lit billboards and as the “Crossroads of the World” and the “Heart of New York.”

TIME intends to build a similar project in the metaverse. In addition, since joining the NFT space last year, the cooperation will enable the media business to create TIME Square as its first-ever metaverse location on its virtual territory in The Sandbox.

TIMEpieces, an NFT community effort showcasing the original artwork of more than 40 significant artists, was introduced by the venerable media firm in September 2021. As a result, the community now has four NFT collections: Beatclub Collection, Slices of TIME, Long Neckie Women of the Year, Genesis, and Inspiration.

According to its president Keith A. Grossman, the objective of TIME is to create a virtual setting that would serve as the heart of the metaverse.

Our goal is to create a destination that will be the heart of the metaverse. Since launching TIMEPieces in September 2021, we have focused on developing a community in Web3 that benefited from the incredible 100- year legacy and access TIME has established,” he added.

TIME Square will act as an open platform for TIMEPieces owners to take advantage of one-of-a-kind experiences like attending meetings and events produced by TIME Studios for fun and educational reasons.

In addition, according to Grossman, TIME Square would act as a natural connection between the firm’s online community, historical coverage, ties with other countries, and actual occurrences.

Sebastien Borget, a co-founder of The Sandbox, commented on the collaboration that a design call for virtual architects will be conducted in TIME Square, a location in their creative metaverse for companies and artists. By working with TIME, they’re adding TIMEPieces as this virtual Manhattan’s throbbing heart and soul.
